Conditions Treated

At East Shore Medical & Pain Management, we treat a wide range of medical problems. Please click a condition below to learn more.

Arthritis/Rheumatism

Rheumatoid arthritis traps the patient in a cycle of hurt. Arthritis leads to pain, which decreases mobility, which weakens the joints, making them more susceptible to pain, which decreases mobility even further, and so on. The disease perpetuates itself.

1 in 5 sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis uses chiropractic as a complement to traditional therapy. 3 out of 4 of those patients said their treatment helped. Why?

Chiropractic breaks the cycle.

A chiropractic adjustment to rheumatic joints increases range of motion. The patient can then move around more. Increased mobility strengthens the joints which slows or even stops arthritis from progressing.

Back Pain

Back pain can be the first sign of serious health problems.

The theory of chiropractic holds that misalignments in the spine weaken the nervous system and weaken the body, making it prone to infection and disease. Back discomfort is often the first sign that something is wrong.

Chiropractors are famous for treating back pain for a reason: they are the experts and no one does it better. Painkillers, drugs, and back braces help back pain, but they do not treat potentially dangerous spinal misalignments.

Disc Problems/Back Surgery

A slipped or bulging disc leads to excruciating pain that makes simple tasks like walking, lifting, or even urinating unbearable.

Disc pain occurs when the gel-like sacs that cushion the space between the vertebrae swell or detach, putting pressure on sensitive nerves and occasionally the spinal cord itself.

A common medical treatment for disc problems is back surgery.  Occasionally it's completely unnecessary, and the patient ends up worse off than before.  This condition even has a name: FBSS (Failed Back Surgery Syndrome).  Sufferers face years of discomfort and vertebral instability.

Serious disc problems are not very common, but if you're experiencing any type of back pain you should see a chiropractor.

Headaches and Migraines

Everyone has had a headache.  And when we have a headache, one thing matters:

Making the pain stop.

Headaches happen when arteries and blood vessels in your scalp are:

  • Infected
  • Pulled
  • Inflamed
  • Stretched
  • Compressed
  • Irritated

Chiropractic has had some great success treating chronic headaches.  A spinal adjustment eliminates misalignments and increases blood flow to the aggravated tissues.  It "opens up" your head to let your body's natural processes work properly.

Knee Pain

Are your knees stiff and difficult to bend?  Does it hurt to walk, even for short distances?  Is it difficult to get up from a seated position, going up or down stairs?

You may have Ostoarthritis...a very treatable condition.

ESM has a safe effective treatment for patients with chronic knee pain!

And best of all NO SURGERY!

Leg Pain/Sciatica

Are you or a loved one suffering from extreme pain, starting in the lower back and traveling all the way down the leg to the feet and toes?

Are everyday tasks like walking, standing, even sitting very painful?

To get the proper care, you'll need to see a chiropractor.

Spinal misalignments in the lower back put pressure on (or "pinch") the sciatic nerve that runs down the leg, causing a tunnel of excruciating pain that disrupts the life of the patient.

Many sciatica sufferers see their pain relieved after the first chiropractic adjustment. Cortisone injections, surgery, and traction all temporarily ease the pain, but chiropractic adjusts the spine to fix the root of the problem.

Neck Injury/Whiplash

Auto accidents and other trauma can leave you feeling a host of symptoms in addition to neck pain:

  • Chronic headache
  • Facial discomfort
  • Extremity pain
  • Ear ringing
  • Dizziness
  • Vision problems

Chiropractors are trained not only to relieve discomfort in and around the spine, but also to identify and treat illness in all parts of the body.  Neck trauma can disrupt nerve messages from the spine that supply the head, shoulders and arms, leading to other health problems.

If you or a loved one has been involved in an accident resulting in a neck injury, you should see a chiropractor to get adjusted.

Perpipheral Neuropathy
If you’re someone who deals with the misery and agony of peripheral sensory neuropathy; the ongoing soreness, numbness, burning, stinging, tingling, tightness, pain and distress of this very aggravating condition; the feeling of walking on pins and needles or ground up glass, or have the sensations of little bugs crawling all over you when none are actually there, or are a family member of someone who does, please don’t give up before thoroughly reading this report.  It’s my hope this may be one of the most worthwhile reports you’ve ever read.
Shoulder Pain/Arm Pain/Hand Pain

Discomfort in the extremities starts with the spine.

When the spine is misaligned, nerves in the hands and arms can become irritated and lead to

  • Neck stiffness
  • Pins and needles
  • A feeling that "I must have done something to my neck"

Acute hand pain, aching joints, even a feeling of numbness in the shoulders can all be caused by a pinching of the brachial plexus, the bundle of nerves running from your neck along your shoulders and into your arms.

Your chiropractor treatment will adjust your spine to dispel any interference from a misalignment.  He'll then diagnose each symptom specifically and individually to adjust your body back to its natural state without the side effects of drugs.
